A New York City based non-profit organization, iMentor’s mission is to improve the lives of young people from underserved communities through innovative, technology-based approaches to youth mentoring and education.
iMentor matches mentees and mentors based on shared personal and professional interests. Mentors and mentees develop relationships through (1) weekly email communication and (2) monthly face-to-face meetings at iMentor events.
The program began with 49 students in one school in the South Bronx. iMentor has now provided mentors to more than 2,000 young people from over 30 NYC schools and after school programs.
iCanMentor Payment Services provides a web-based system used by professional and part-time tutors, coaches and trainers. Parents use iCanMentor to search for and compare services from various skilled teachers.
The system enables tutors, coaches, and trainers to promote their services, schedule sessions, track cash payments, and process online credit card transactions.
iCanMentor.com also facilitates one-to-one and multi-student "distance e-Learning" sessions using audio, video, collaborative whiteboard, and many more online classroom features.
